Builders meet 31st March....
« on: 27 February 2019, 08:03:19 pm »
It would be great to have a builders meet one day at a weekend in March.
We need to find somewhere thatís kind of central to the country so we donít put off anybody having to travel to far.
Iíd be happy to have it here but Iím on the Welsh border and might be a bit far for a day. Im working on finding a field locally we can have some fun in but I need my Cyclekart to be totally finished before approaching local farmers, then we can make a weekend of it. Thereís loads of cheap b&b round here, itís walking and cycling country
Iím sugesting the third, forth and fifth weekends of March (16 17th, 23 24th, 30 31st)
Iíll bring my Cyclekart now Iíve got my ramps
We just need suggestions for a location

Sorry can't make it Steve, just about to start building, and need all available time if I'm going to have a running kart for Stretton.

I need to check calendars with the hierarchy. Just a few tings to resolve here with getting an Historic special legalised. Once it's done I can tell more. (Another one turned up here at the weekend!)

Iíve been looking for a suitable venue to meet at. Rhys suggested a motorway service area which is a good idea. It annoys me that they want £20 per car if your there for more than 2hrs !
An alternative is a museum.
I spoke to the Midland aircraft museum today and they are more than happy to accommodate us.
They are based near Coventry airport so pretty much centre of the country. Iíve been there in the past. You even can get inside some of the aircraft. We can all park up in the car park together and see what weíve all been building. They also have tearoom
I asked about suitable dates.... they canít accomodate us on the 23rd as they have a car club visiting. They can do 24th or the following weekend

I am just posting an idea for a venue for a future meet as its in the Midlands and central, I live very close to Apedale Heritage Centre they have classic car and other events throughout the year which you could tag onto and maybe Chesterton Raceway maybe approachable for a few circuits as it is so that close you could drive your Cycle karts to the raceway from Apedale country park without going on the public highway.
