CK standards at Public Events.
« on: 19 July 2021, 11:16:20 am »
By way of an update, drafts of the CKGB Handbook, Club Rules, etc are all progressing in the background in preparation for floating CKGB as a formal Club later this year.  This was initiated at the beginning of 2021 by a perceived need to secure Public Liability Insurance for potential events throughout the year. However the management of all planned events this year has avoided the need for CKGB to have independent PLI. The securing of PLI is therefore suggested as best deferred until the start of 2022, when it is hoped a greater number of paid-up members to a formal CKGB club will result in less painful annual fees.
The draft Club Handbook makes reference to vehicle safety, some items of which are included in risk assessments submitted to Brooklands and Grimsthorpe. Therefore this is a good time to remind people of the need to include a couple of the mandatory items within their build.
1. Vehicles must have an independent electrical engine cut-off switch located on the dashboard and clearly marked 'OFF'. If the vehicle has a battery this switch must additionally disconnect the supply.
2. Throttles must have a minimum of two independent automatic return devices (springs).
3. Note also, although not an issue for 2021, some venues stipulate a maximum engine noise of 105db, so ensure that your build will accept a silencer at such future events.
Further updates on the formation of a formal club will be floated later this year for general discussion and input.
