CKWC2021 - Cyclekarts chart update.
« on: 10 June 2021, 11:52:20 pm »
Hi folks,
Thank you so much for the patches and kind words!!!
The patches traveled quite a bit from hand to hand until they finally reached Dennis Thomas and I yesterday at an English Pub in Phoenix, via Steve Vinson. Yes there are English pubs in the Arizona desert!!

Graham was kind enough to forward to me the results of the Maybug and Slalom from the May 26th day at Stretton, and asked me to come up with a result for the CKWC. Normally what I do when there are multi competitions at one event and no declared overall result, is I make a small points tournament using the events' competitions to come up with an overall result. So thats what I did, and this is how May 26th played out: (See image)
By the way congratulations on getting 10 cyclekarts to attend. Is this the most ever?

I also included an image with the updated CKWC cyclekart points stats after Round 8.

As you can see I am missing some info for the UK cyclekarts. Please let me know:
1) What is the #17 ERA's engine?
2) What is the #7 Austin 7 "Malcolm Campmpbell" engine?
3) Is the "Brooklands Special" a Riley, or what is it?
4) From what I could tell the MG and the Wolseley did not run the slalom competition, correct?
5) Some people's names were in parenthesis on the data I received, I assumed they were 2nd drivers? Let me know if not.
6) The engines information is what I had from last year. If anyone changed their engine, let me know.

And of course, if you see any mistakes, please let me know.

Thanks!!

Nice one Carlos, good work fella. Well done Chris, your ERA is on form and handled the slalom with ease.

Thanks Carlos. I will feed the missing info through to avoid multiple answers.
Cheers Graham.

Hi Folks, here are the latest updates to the 2021 Cyclekart World Championship.
Your club is now showing a strong presence on the charts!!!
It should get even stronger, as the next event is one of yours (Grimsthorpe), and I believe you all still have 2 (Museum & Stretton?), plus "The Corona" for a total of 4 events before the season wraps up. Thats a possible 10+10+10+20 points on the line!!

Thats the same number of points at play as the SouthWestern USA region participants, who have AZ200 (10pts), 24hrs (20pts), and The Corona (20pts.) still to go.

The current championship leader, the #3 Maserati (Dave Dupaquier), is from the Pacific NorthWest. Due to the Cancellation of the Canadian races and the Tieton GP, he only has 1 event left, The Corona (20pts), unless he decides to travel very far to do the Arizona events (unlikely). He is however not only the current leader, but also the defending Corona Champion, so he has not thrown the towel yet. He should have been further up, but had a mechanical issue at his last event (The Iverson Kup in Washington) resulting in a 4th place, and that cost him!!

It going to be close!! Of course it doesn't matter who wins, but its very interesting to see how things play out.

I have attached the current Cyclekarts, Drivers, and Marques charts.
I'm not doing a team and constructors chart this year as these are proving very difficult to keep track of.
I left the previous "up to round 8 chart" I had posted before for comparison.

Have fun with the data, and have a great event at Grimsthorpe.
Your club done a great job with all your events this year!!
Hats off to you!!

Let me know if you have any questions, and if you spot any mistake let me know too.

Hi Folks!!! I'm not sure where I posted the previous CKWC2021 Calendar, but here is latest version.
And some news:
A cyclekart Club has just popped out of nowhere in Hungary!!!
It came to life ready and hit the ground running, with 5 cyclekarts built, another 5 in process, 1 circuit, and at least 2 events (one at the circuit and one on city streets).
The Hugarian events just joined the World Championship!!!
Welcome Hungary!!!
It great to see cyclekarting action expanding through Europe!!!

I think it will be the other way around to start.
European cyclekarters should be crossing the channel to go drive in the British events!!!
The GB Club has come up with top notch locations, circuits, public events, exclusive events, all well organized by committed enthusiasts. Not doubt, currently the most attractive schedule of events within a specific region, anywhere in the world!! The British cyclekarts have no reason to leave the island.
The French have their events and the Hungarians are far, but there are karts in Belgium and Netherlands with no events, these guys will want to go once it becomes attractive enough. And its getting there.
If I wasn't in the complete opposite side of the globe, I'd be planning a trip right now!!!
I'd be having a really hard time picking which British event to attend!!!
Keep up the good work Gentlemen!!!!

Passports to the ready guys were all of to Hungary 😎.

Thanks Carlos. We have come quite a way since starting in late 2018 thanks to the enthusiasm of members. Anybody outside of the UK thinking of joining us for a visit is obviously very welcome. We will be developing an events calendar for 2022 in the next couple of months.
It is a world-wide hobby and your CK World Championships is a great platform to encourage that.

Great stuff Carlos. I can't believe I'm in third place in the drivers, it must be the solid advice given by our friend The Ace Instructor James Auld. (he says Hi) Hopefully I will manage to get to the states soon and take part in one the events over there.

The 2021 CycleKart World Championship has reached its climax!!
There are only 3 weeks left before the end and its shaping up to be even more exciting than last year!!!
The Championship points race is very tight at the top and there are way too many possible outcomes to list!!!
At least a dozen cyclekarts still have a chance at the Title, although realistically, looks like it should end up with one of the current Top 6.
A total of 115 cyclekarts are currently listed on the full 2021 World Championshp points chart!!

The best mathematical chance rests with the #8 Dodge Baquet from England. It still has 1 event to go (a 10 pointer) on the British Schedule, and the Corona. This gives it a possible 30 points still in play. But realistically not really, as the Dodge may not have the speed needed to be a Corona front runner, putting its possible total points at play to be very similar to all the others challengers.
All other challengers however, are finished with their regular race schedules, with only the Corona remaining.
So just like last year, the Corona will be the event that will ultimately decide how the 2021 season will end.

This makes last year's Corona Challenge winner (and defending CKWC Champion), Scuderia Italia's #3 Maserati 250F, the clear favorite.
However, it currently trails the current Championship leader #23 VKC Italiano by 3 points!!
Regardless if the 2021 Corona ends up a 10 or 20 pointer event (based on number of participants), the #3 Maserati needs to put 4 points in between itself and the #23 VKC. The Maserati needs The Corona!!

Of course that doesn't take into consideration what the many other challengers might have up their sleeve!!!

However, as of right now, The Corona has only 2 entries!!!
At 2 entries, The Corona currently sits as a " *NPE" (No Points Event)!!!
It should easily hit the 5 cyclekart minimum to score points.
We'll see what happens, as the time and weather window is already closing on many participants in North America and Europe.

Aside from the cyclekarts challenging for the overall CycleKart World Championship Title, there is also a spot to be had among "the rest of the best" in the coveted "CKWC Top 10". Room to get into this respectable group of challengers is wide open!!!
And now, its all come down to 1 event... the "world-wide" Corona Challenge!!!

And that's just the CycleKarts Championship.
Similar thrilling finishes are in store in the CKWC's Drivers and Marques Championships!!!

In the Marques Championship the surprise is... Bugatti leads!! Without having won any events!! Bugatti benefits from its popularity which results in its presence at most events. There are a lot of Bugattis out there and they did a great job scoring points as a team for the French marque.
Bugatti's main challenge will no doubt come from Maserati, in The Corona.

What will ultimately happen?
How will it all play out??
Its a nail biter folks!!!

Points charts below.

Have fun at the end of the season events still to unfold, and play safe everyone!!

Cheers!!!

Great stuff Carlos, It could be a very exciting final meeting at Whilton Mill with the possibility of 10 points. I usually mess it all up when under pressure so race fans don't count on me lol.

Excellent job Carlos - thank you!

Come on Jim, GB needs this, particularly after all the other craziness we’ve had/got going on.  Your country needs you!

I’ve started designing some aero for the Dodge (period correct of course) for the Corona, and we’ll get our nutrition specialist to send you a list of pies you can eat.

So, a quick rule check Carlos - if we have an extra race in the next 3 weeks with a qualifying number of cyclekarts, will the results be admissible in the CKWC?

Thanks Stefan!!
Currently for the British, the CKWC schedule shows one more points race (Whilton Hill) remaining, + The Corona.
If you have one more event to add, please do.
I noticed the British schedule as it is now allowed a total of 70 points.
The NW North America schedule also 70 points.
But the SW North America schedule allowed for 80.
So yes, add another British race if you can to even that out.
The NW N.America group will be doing that too (at SlymeDawg Speedway).
This is bad news for my situation in the Championship...  ;D
but sounds fair to me.
