A bit of an update for everybody. It looks like we should have at least 10 CycleKarts on the day, which is good news.
As always this is a great opportunity for any new members or those just interested, to pay us a visit. You will find us a relaxed friendly group, willing to answer questions and generally chat. You may be offered the chance to take a kart onto the track, for this you will need a suitable helmet, overalls and gloves.

At some point during the morning we will hold the 'Maybug Medal' Sprint Challenge, thereby guaranteeing the winning driver a photo opportunity with trophy proudly held aloft. I will forward all results to Carlos for inclusion in the World Championship series.

Additionally on the day, the annual 'Stan Cup' will be transferred to a new owner. The 'Stan' is awarded in recognition of an individual who has contributed to the promotion of the hobby and the encouragement of others, in CycleKarting in the UK over the last twelve months. The selection of the deserving recipient is solely by the current owner, not by committee. The current holder is Marek Nahajski.

Andy Boulton is proposing to be present on the day. Andy still has some karts and components that he is looking to sell from his purchase from the defunct 'CycleKarts UK' stock.

Stefan will have a smorgasbord of badges, stickers and posters for sale

All attendees are responsible for their own vehicles and their own safety. Anybody attending on the day with a new CycleKart or seriously modified CycleKart will need to demonstrate that they have completed a self-scrutineering check. In the spirit of safety, CycleKart owners are additionally encouraged to offer their vehicle up to others for review/inspection, to help ensure critical components appear in order.

Timetable for the day:
08.30 Arrive
09.15 Scrutineering
09.40 Safety briefing
10.00 till 13.00 exclusive track time
13.00 till 17.00 flexible activities on/off track

Any guest drivers will need to be present for the 09.40 safety briefing.

There is no formal lunch arranged so please bring your own refreshments.

Drivers please remember to bring £40 cash for me on the day (remember that old paper stuff?)

The weather looks promising for next week so hopefully it will be a good dry event. I am going to give my cyclekart a wash this week after the last wet meeting so it had better stay dry. I have some road cones I can bring along as spares for Grahams buckets which mat get destroyed like last time with the reckless and dangerous driving styles adopted during the slalom test. :)

I popped over to the circuit this morning to clarify arrangements. Unfortunately the dirt oval and associated access road are out of bounds from now on due to insurance issues. However we are welcome to set up a slalom course on the track at any time.
At present the only other booking on the day is at 4.00pm.

Suggested direction is clockwise for anyone setting up 1 wheel locked and 1 wheel free. :)

Lets just agree you and me will go clockwise, it'll be more interesting if everyone else goes the other way!

Whilst we will be complying with government guidelines to minimise the spread of COVID, we have people attending the event with health vulnerabilities.

It would help reduce the risk further, if everyone attending would do a lateral flow COVID test on Tues evening/Weds morning.  The test is freely available and is very quick taking about a couple of minutes to do.  It involves swabbing your own throat and nose, processing the swab and then waiting 20mins for the test to show it's result.

Please, no debates about COVID, testing, vaccines etc - just a simple request to reduce the risk.    It's not mandatory, but I hope it's not too much to ask.

https://maps.test-and-trace.nhs.uk will help you find your nearest supply.  Thanks
