I rebuilt the Renault engine and finished fitted it in the car only yesterday.
When I took it out for a run up the road it wouldn't pull and performance was hopeless so in despair I changed the engine (the one out of the Wee Beatstie). Everything went really well. and I recon it was about an hours work.
In order to remove the engine I removed the engine driven clutch, swung it out of the way, undid the four mounting bolts and the the four screw holding the transmission to the engine. then out it came.
Putting the new one in was easily done and everything fitted nicely UNTIL I came to install the setscrew that holds the clutch into the crankshaft of the new engine. The Engine I bought did not have this screw with it of course. I tried to install the 8mm screw that I took out of the original engines clutch but, it was the wrong thread! Its 1/2" UNF and though I have searched my workshop from top to bottom I cant find one.
Its Sunday, about half one. Nobody open selling these.
In the morning I will scour the Earth to find one and fit it and hopefully take the Renault for a test run before I set off for the Haynes day.
I really hope I'm not in for another spectator day.

If you're really stuck for Weds, I might be able to knock one up.

Update for Haynes Day   ;  I shall be there from 9 am  .  Track available to us from 10am.

As you enter the Museum main gate (only one entrance)  , go straight ahead,  ignore the Museum on your left. Keep going past the Kart track on your right.   Turn right into main car park .
I will park as near to the track as possible and hopefully reserve space. Look for my Grey van.

There is another Media event on that day , at the Museum (it's also a conference centre) but that doesn't start until 11.  So parking should be ok.
Plus we could gain some extra spectators .....who are bored / want to escape the Conference  ;). He He

Don't forget to bring monies , thank you.

Yes, a bit.
By the way, have you checked your accommodation at the Sparkford Inn for Tuesday night?
This applies to everyone. I booked about two weeks ago but I'm not booked in.
I'm down here now (Monday) and they have not got me down.
Please call 07983578804 ASAP

We are leaving at 12 today and should be there about 4. I've  just checked and it says there is a conformation of the booking but i'll give them a tinkle later this morning. Is the place nice and can you leave a bit a pedigree for me?

OK guys, I don't know what the fuel situation is like the closer you get to Yeovil?
But round here it's all lemmings swarming over a petrol station once a tanker
has delivered and then it's empty again a couple of hours later.

Hi Bill, at the minute we have fuel our the local area .

I am about 35 miles West of Sparkford . Of course you will be coming down the A303 from the opposite direction, so not sure of fuel situation that side.

Sorry but I’m going to ware me sensible hat…not that it fits very well!
Can’t risk getting stuck somewhere so I have to give tomorrow a miss
Happy to pay my contribution if I could have the appropriate bank details.
Hope you all have a great time.
