Tuesday October 27th Stretton Circuit Leicester. CKWC2020 Event.
« on: 07 September 2020, 03:43:22 pm »
We are planning on holding another meeting at Stretton Circuit. This will include our UK entry into the World Championship Series compiled by Carlos Carneiro (of cyclekartclub.com), Phoenix, Arizona.
The Circuit will do their best to allow us uninterrupted access to the track between 10.00 and 12.00; subject to bookings on the day, we will also have sporadic track access in the afternoon.  I have arranged that we have the additional use of the dirt oval and its associated concrete access road for the whole day.
This meeting will comprise a selection of minor events and results. Suggestions for the inclusion of events are therefore welcomed. The aim of the meeting is for some good old British fun, not competitive glory.
At present events suggested are:
•   The ‘Maybug Medal’ sprint challenge on the karting circuit. (Note additionally, the trophy will be awarded on the day).
•   Driving Test(s) layout of bollards designed to allow completion without using reverse gear. Geoff has already submitted some proposals. (The dirt oval and/or the concrete parking/access road).
•   ‘Afternoon Tea Challenge’ A Le-Man’s start and completion of a lap of the dirt oval to include the taking of a refreshing cup of Earl Grey (no tea bags! Teapot and tea strainer mandatory).
NOTE. All events must take account of the C19 social-distancing rules encouraged by the Circuit.
A non-driving volunteer is welcomed to act as Clerk of the Course on the day.
As previous it will be £35 per CK/driver with additional drivers at £5 each. I’m hoping this date is convenient for most, I have had to avoid weekends and the Leicester half-term holiday to keep costs reasonable. A timely start is encouraged to make use of the morning track time.
Please therefore confirm your proposed attendance/otherwise.

Sarah Hill has quickly stepped up to the post of 'Clerk of the Course' assisted by Daisy. It will be good to see them both again.

I'll do my best to get there this time. With a bit of luck I'll at least have made a start on the body too.

If these new rules of 6 at a gathering apply, I'll stand down, being more "vulnerable)" (read old) than most of you.

Do you want to live forever?
I am older than you and I'm going. It's going to take the undertaker a week to crowbar the smile of my face. I'm going to do whatever I can to avoid catching it but hey, live for the day!
According to excel I am 26,793 days old today. Another day is just 0.00375% of that so it just cant be that important can it?
Risk it yer owd bugger.

As I understand, there is a comprehensive list of exemptions to be published before Monday. I will then check with the circuit.
