Title: Stretton Autumn Meeting. Sunday 3rd November 2019
Post by: Graham Hill on 24 September 2019, 01:26:59 pm
Back by popular demand! This could be the last major meeting for 2019.?

Its been a lot of fun this year and we intend to have a greater selection of alternative venues in 2020. However for this year I have checked that the Stretton circuit is available on Sunday 3rd November as previous.
Together with others, I would like to promote this meeting as an opportunity for all those new members who have either started a build, or have shown a keen interest (or have still not introduced themselves) to join in the fun. This will be a great opportunity to meet up together, you can look at some completed CycleKarts close up and most likely have a drive around as well.
For those who are unaware, the Stretton Karting Circuit is adjacent to the Leicestershire Aero Club and I have been able to arrange a sandwich lunch in the clubhouse for us in the past. I encourage anybody who intends to come on the day to also have lunch, it's 5 on the day for a sandwich and soft drink. A bar is also open.

Could I therefore please start to receive names of those persons who intend to visit and whether you would additionally like lunch please. Looking forward to seeing you all. Graham.

I will post another reminder nearer the time.

I have been granted clearance to attend so I will get to come and say "Hi" to everyone and have a good look over your vehicles.

You are only an hour and a half away from me from my googling which is good.

For first timers do you have a postcode (so I am certain I am going to the right place) and what time do you usually meet up/ stay until?

Do you still attend in poor weather?

This will also give me a great opportunity to ask all of my other burning questions, such as how to fix the rear axle from longitudinal movement.

I doubt I'll be there, too many craft fairs coming up! I'll confirm nearer the date, when I know the exact situation.

Richie, here's the link to Stretton's website: http://www.strettoncircuit.co.uk/

I won't be attending, I decided today to rebuild the suspension sliders with thicker wall tubing for the axle carrier, steering arm, and some bracing. All that, the mods I already need to do, and work, means I won't be able to get it sorted in time.

A change to the previous lunchtime arrangements.
We are now able to use the aero club cafe/bar and order individually from the menu board, either hot or cold. As a price check, sandwiches are 2.80 - 3.00, a large tea is 1.00.

Hello everybody.
I am so sorry I was unable to go to the Stretton meeting. for the first time in years, I was literally in bed with a cold and chest infection.
I hope the day went well, I will no doubt read all about it and see some piccies/video?
The unfinished Renault nearly made it! Rhys loaned me a trailer but I couldn't get the towbar fitted to the Outlander until next Friday so altogether not good.
Hope to talk more on the forum and post some piccies.
Adrian

Great Marek !. It captures just how much fun can be had with a relatively low- cost, low-speed CycleKart.

Well, it just makes me even more sorry for missing the day. Did I see a bare chassis? Is it a new build coming on from a new member?

That would be my Delage Modern build so far Adrian  :D :D its a slow process because of the amount of work I get from school but it is slowly coming along

The resolution might be a bit lower but the quality is still there, excellent work.
Just out of interest Marek, how did you find the differences if any between driving the Bugatti and the ERA?
Title: Re: Stretton Autumn Meeting. Sunday 3rd November 2019

They handle very differently and have a very different driving experience. I will list some of the characteristics and say which kart I preferred for that feature and then will give a summary of the two karts. (And I'll make sure I am not bias)
Stability: ERA
Acceleration: Bugatti
Steering: Bugatti
Braking: ERA
Fun: Equally fun
Driving comfort: ERA
Most spacious: Bugatti

ERA: Beautiful CycleKart, Very comfortable and because the seat is narrow you feel more connected with the kart. The pedals are very soft to press and are larger. No large brake issues. Turning requires more force but doesn't require much rotation. Great fun to drive and thank you Chris for letting me have a go!

Bugatti: Beautiful CycleKart, Comfortable seat but because it is wider you slide around when driving creating a more raw driving experience. The pedals require more pressure to press which I like. Brakes work great when cool but heat up quickly. Steering is easy and doesn't require much force. More rotation is needed to get round the corners but this is by no means uncomfortable. It is overall my favourite CycleKart that I have driven so far.

I hope this has helped :)

Great footage Marek, well done.

I think your last full lap in the Bugatti was sub 60 seconds, so I reckon you've given us all something to aim at!

Hi all. I've just been speaking with Dave, he is slowly still on the mend.

Apparently in the joint effort to pack up their car and trailer on the day, they ended up with a surplus jacket, blue check with fur lining. They can return it by post if somebody wants to claim it via me.
