Hi,

I have no experience with cycle karts, but quite a bit with home made karts, old cars, newer cars, lawn mowers and such.

I have an old 100cc national kart in the garage that could work as the start point as a cycle kart. Rear axel, bearings, steering, front uprights, brakes etc.

I am reading the posts and getting an idea of the rules or constraints, not so many if I understand correctly.

I live in East Sussex,

Rupert

Hi Rupert and welcome!
I started out with a donor go-kart and it turned out to be a good source of quality parts. If you look at the 'where to get stuff' section it will help with the remainder. If you can get yourself to Stretton next Tuesday you can be guaranteed a drive around the circuit.

Graham,

Many thanks for the great offer but I am in Cornwall next week. Next time...

Hi Chris,

I see you are in Crowborough, I grew up in Crowborough and now am just in Uckfield. When I get back it would be great to have a chat over tea / beer / whatever Covid rules enable.

Rupert.

In the meanwhile I do have a quick chassis question. Most designs have a 3"*1" box steel chassis. Is this mandatory / considered the only route within the spirit of the karts?

Sorry, have just read the chassis construction methods thread. Now I have an answer to my own question. I like the idea of a ply chassis Marcos style...
