Title: The Cyclekart club of Great Britain and Northern Ierland
Post by: Adrian on 09 September 2020, 09:24:40 pm
It's time we became a club.
We could call it the Cyclekart Club of Great Britain and Northern Ireland or Cyclekarts GB whatever but then we could have a structure and a little pool of money for flags, cones whatever. We could have trips out to car shows, airshows, kit car show and of course we could arrange for us to go to County Shows and the like.
We could approach people like the Forestry Commision, Country Houses that open to the public and Car Shows and Airshows and put on a display with a 'members tent' to attract new faces.
We could buy tools. We could share our tools and stuff amongst members and have 'noggin and natters' when we divide the country up into areas, North West, North East etc and even Yorkshire!
(I'm from Lancashire by the way).
I dont know about you but whilst I am eternally grateful to Graham for organising the Stetton meetings I would like to do more. I would like to put a tent on the back and go 'Off Road' for a weekend with a campsite next to a pub.
Is it legal to drive across Dartmoor on the pony tracks?

If we were a national club, we could perhaps have a tent at Goodwood, Shelsley Walsh, Brooklands and have a go at our own events and trials.
Cyclekarting could become a big thing if we did it right.
Most people I talk to about cycleKarts think you pedal them! I'll bet the French and certainly the Italians will have a better word than 'Cyclekart'.
So lets start a club, with an inspiring name dedicated to spreading the word and having lots of fun. If you think this can't be done, think again. I am number 7377 of the Singer Owners Cub. Thats at least then 7,377 members World Wide.

So everyone thinks I'm barking-mad then?

Nope not barking mad at all.
More barking up the tree before the squirrel had a chance to run up it.
That’s not to say we shouldn’t think ahead of time, but
I rather like the informal approach, once you get serious
all sorts of rules and regulations can pop up out of nowhere.
But I do like the idea of some of the venues you listed.

I did think you were a bit mad because you said you were the 7377 member of a sewing machine club.  ;D

I agree with Bill. The idea of a club sounds great and I love the idea of driving a cyclekart at different events and places we don't normally get a chance to drive them at. The only issue is all the complexities of being a club like insurance, having a place to store things that the club own, having to have some sort of committee or similar. There are other obligations and costs that it would bring around. As far as my opinion in this is valid as I am aware I am only 16 with no experience in setting up a club ;D

I think it's a great idea and positive step forward.  :)

Happy to be a contact down in the South west.

 Cheers, Chris L
