Hi

I am an engineer interested in building a Cycle Kart with my  sons- I have built various contraptions before - with various levels of success , but always enjoyable. I am based in NI - are there any members over here and any events?

Welcome to the forum. I dont know of anyone there but others may do. having worked on the Bugatti with dad and him helping with welding and that sort of thing with my Delage i can guarantee that cyclekarting with your dad/son is great fun

Welcome, and yes as a father son project these things are great.
The kids learn lots, and have fun all at the same time...however
don't suggest they choose the inspiration car, they will choose
the most difficult build possible, I speak with experience!  ;D

I found this while browsing

https://vdocuments.mx/cyclekart-preliminary-plans-1926-ford-sprint.html

Does it count ? Looks like just what I would like to build

I think these plans are Dennis Thomas's. if you go on the American website I expect you will find the build.

I had a look - some really nice Karts there.

Wheels ??? any advice on this - I see 17" with a 15mm shaft are easily got. I was thinking they may not be robust enough for long term use, might do as a starter though? Any thoughts from anyone?

I have an engine and a torque convertor - so gathering pace :)

The bearings are easily changed for ones with a larger bore, I've attached a tabulation of the available bearings.

You're welcome, it's been posted several times on the site, just easier for me to put it on again than find a post and add a link.
