Wouldn't that be great, to have too many at an event!
Question is, why aren't we hearing from these folks? Don't be shy.

To pick up on Today’s posting by RhysN, I can echo said sentiment, so much so there appears to be no active members North of the wall, and if there are I have yet to receive a reply from the 6 or so listed within the “members list”, who I extended an invitation to a builders meeting. This invitation was also extended to listed members in Newcastle but alas the 2 gents in question have “put aside their cycle kart toys” for other challenges.
Well this small setback will not stop me in my quest to build my vehicle and it means I will have to start spreading the word in person. So if anyone out there knows of anyone, “UP NORTH” interested or involved with cycle karts please let me know, it’s lonely up here 🥺🥺.

Regards

Hi Charlie. It was good to meet you earlier this year when you made the trip south to meet us. We have generated a lot of new interest this year at vintage vehicle events. If you have some vintage car/bike clubs up north maybe you can introduce CycleKarts on a forum there?
In any event don't get disheartened. Have you started a build with the bits and pieces you gleaned from your cross-border raid? Progress photos are always welcomed.

Graham,

Thank you very much for those words of encouragement and I did enjoy my trip to Englandshire.
As for being discouraged, far from it Graham. If you know or have learned anything about us Scott’s we are a bloody minded and dogged bunch, with one or two exception e.g. me, hence why we are a Nation of geniuses and engineers 😁😁.
No, no, you can thank me later for all the things we have given you English 🤔🤔 such as roads and tyres to start with.
I am a bit disappointed that there are very few enthusiasts up North of the wall, to date me and one other, however I really do believe that once “the word” gets out then “they will come”.
My build hit the buffers a bit due to the good weather and my wife’s insistence that our garden take priority, after all who in their right mind is going to argue with “she who must be obeyed”.
This said i have spent the down time to plan, purchase and accumulate most if not ALL the parts needed including several square metres of cedar strips which will be used to form the back end and reduce weight.
As a side issue I did find it extremely difficult to source some things, eventually obtaining them from our transatlantic cousins, which makes me think that there must be an easier way to do this. I know we have a “get stuff” forum but to me it appears to be reactive rather than proactive🤔🤔.
Anyway I am looking forward to a winter tucked up in my garage working on the build and listening to radio 4 safe in the knowledge that came the spring something resembling a cycle kart will emerge ready to take South and stand proudly shoulder to shoulder with you English.
Once again thank you for your kind remarks and I look forward to meeting up again next year, you never know by then there may be more of us up here 🤞🤞🤞

Regards for now,

Scotty ( a.k.a. Charlie S)
