Air Cleaner
« on: 07 June 2021, 11:11:34 pm »
I am in the process of doing away with the standard air box on my Lifan (Honda clone) and want to move the existing air cleaner element to side mounting, before I design and 3D print the final spacer I would like to know what others have used/ done ?

There are two options:

Side mount air filter: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/173837517813

Adaptor from Thingverse: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3996245

Save you the work of designing your own.

Thanks Chris, I have already printed a spacer, I will also print out the one from thingiverse as well. Do you know what type or make of filter it is that is fitted on to the adapter ?

What have others used as an air cleaner - stock, modified stock or high performance ?

Sorry about the delay Clive, the 3d print one uses a 52mm conical filter.

Thanks Chris,
Thats quite a bit bigger than the stock filter inlet. I will have a look at the file and maybe tweak it to take a stock filter to start with.

When designing your inlet adapter, remember that cold air is vital to the efficiency of th engine. The inlet to the air cleaner/filter should not be inside the engine bay if possible.
