Brooklands Relived 7 Aug 2021
« on: 10 June 2021, 11:33:08 pm »
I’m pleased to confirm that we’ve been invited to be part of Brooklands Relived on Sat 7th Aug 2021.

This year the event will be celebrating the 95th Anniversary of the British Grand Prix.

As well as a static display, we’ll have opportunities to do exhibition drives.

Note that we’ll need to be in period attire.

I need to know who wants to bring a Cyclekart by 9th July as all drivers must be  registered and we’ll need to know numbers to plan space.

Anyone else coming with the driver/person displaying, will need to book tickets via the Brooklands Museum website.

Count me in Stefan. I love wearing fancy dress so period attire is gonna be fun.

Yes please Stefan. I know a lot of work has gone into securing this booking, well done. Perhaps we should have a small prize for best apparel, Jim is obviously up for it!

Im up for that. I dunno if Bridget the Riley will be ‘finished’ by then but maybe a work in progress would be worth bringing along? If its set up as a static display then itll be easy to see how it all connects up together at least....

By august she should be woodwork complete and with at least 1 layer of glass over that. No white paint, and probably no tailcone, but the woodwork should look quite shiny and pretty. Might even be drivable by then.

If you want to get in the mood for Brooklands Relived, you can read the report of the first British GP in Motor Sport from Sept 1926

I want to get in the clothes of the day too and have been researching what Ferenc Szisz would have worn in the 1906 French Grand Prix (he won it in 3A) and what Felice Nazzaro might have worn in the Fiat S76 (The Beast of Turin) in 1910

Would love to go along - count me in!!!

Would be great to take my Dad's M type alongside Grahams as his car has raced at Brooklands, I will try and find the photos we have and post them up if anyone is interested?

cheers
