CKGB - Stretton Circuit Meeting Review 3rd May 2023

We had a stable of twelve lovingly prepared Cyclekarts roll up to Stretton Circuit early on the day. Those that were uber-keen had arrived the night before. The weather shined upon us throughout, keeping spirits buoyed and balding heads warm.

Members were aware that this was to be the first trial event under the newly acquired ‘NORA Motorsport’ accreditation. All arrived in good time for the scheduled ‘driver’s briefing’ which was accompanied by freshly cooked bacon rolls (not sure whether we have initiated a precedent here?). Stefan Nahajski was officially ‘Clerk of the Course’ for the day and Chris Slade was busily employed as ‘Event Secretary’ ensuring that all paperwork and permits were in place ready for the start.

The morning session was free and easy with drivers taking the opportunity to shake down newly-built and freshly maintained machines. Unfortunately, some shook a little too much, resulting in a high attrition rate. As always, the comradery of the group guaranteed that help was at hand to tackle mechanical problems as they arose. Some frantic pit action ensured that by the time the Maybug Medal was started at Midday, a qualifying field was entered.

It was great to see some new faces and vehicles, let’s hope that this continues.

As always, Stretton Circuit is a welcoming and helpful venue, thanks to all the staff on site for another great day.
