Prepping the track at the Star & Garter GP

With the first ever full CKGB hosted event looming, event organiser Captain Jim Tanner asked if a few of us could lend a hand with marking out the track to ensure that we are all ready for the great GP event that is at the Star & Garter Pub in Chelveston on the 11th June 2023.

As event organiser Jim is known for his careful and meticulous planning, so we were a little surprised to find the grass field was 4ft high since we last saw it and tested a Cycklekart on it. That aside, Jim and I got going early Saturday morning moving tyres about whilst we waited for Mark to turn up with his lad (he only had to pack up all the equipment and drive 2 odd hrs) so don’t know what took him so long!!! As soon as he arrived we decided that we should discuss how we were going to tackle this monster task by walking away and going into the pub for a beer and some food ;). Refuelled and raring to go, Captain Tanner jumped aboard the front of the Landy and started to mark out the track. After a few hours rollering (around) we had something coming together.

Below is a short video, mainly for everyone to see what the track conditions will be like and help you all to prepare for the big day!

Advice from Jim is - Bring lots of spares and tighten your nuts! - wise words.

Cheers All - Team CKGB
